The Eternal Road
The Eternal Road is based on Antti Tuuri’s bestselling book of the same name and tells the untold story of the thousands of communist Americans who sought a new way of life in the Soviet Union in the 1930’s. The film is written and directed by AJ Annila who has previously directed JADE WARRIOR (2006) and SAUNA (2008) along with several other projects in the pipeline. During the 1930s great depression Stalin invites all the workers of the world to come build a new society based on justice, equality and freedom. More than 10,000 Americans answers this call. One of them is Jussi Ketola, an American with Finnish origins. However, the dream of a communist paradise is quickly shattered when Jussi is harassed by fascist thugs on one side and the Soviet secret police on the other. Despite the many challenges, Jussi manages to settle down in the community and build a family. But, as the political climate changes, the foreigners become undesirable elements in Stalin’s communist regime and people start disappearing.
