The Finnish Film Affair is the industry event of Helsinki International Film Festival – Love & Anarchy and an international showcase of Finnish films and Nordic talent. Organised since 2012, approximately 400 film industry professionals from around the world attend the event each year. Attending sales agents, distributors, festival programmers, TV buyers, and representatives of the press get an opportunity to find out more about upcoming Finnish features and documentaries, as well as a chance to network. The event’s word-of-mouth speaks for itself: 100% of the international guests of FFA’s previous edition would recommend the event to a colleague.
The 9th Finnish Film Affair will take place in Helsinki and online 23–25 September 2020. The event continues to monitor the situation carefully in terms of event regulations and international travel ahead of sending official invitations to industry guests this year. In addition to showcasing nearly 50 Finnish films in its programme (with half of them either in development or production), the event will also highlight four first or second feature directors from our neighbouring Nordic countries in its Works in Progress section.
Finnish Film Affair is also the home for Nordic Flair, a training programme that provides valuable career development opportunities for Nordic filmmaking talent. In 2020 Nordic Flair will focus on emerging sales agents and distributors from the Nordic countries.
